Can I install my PermaFLOW™ drain in my existing sink?

Yes. The PermaFLOW™ drain is designed to install under existing sinks or lavatories. Simply remove your old J-trap and install the PermaFLOW™ drain in its place. It can be installed on both metal and plastic pipes.

Can I use my PermaFLOW™ drain in my bathroom and kitchen?

Yes. The PermaFLOW™ drain can be used in both kitchen and bathroom.

My Kitchen Sink has a garbage disposal – can I use PermaFLOW?

Yes, the PermaFLOW™ drain can be used in conjunction with the garbage disposal. It basically replaces the U- piece in the P-Trap below the sink.

How do I know which size of plumbing I have 1-1/2” or 1-1/4”?

You can measure the outside diameter of the pipe coming down from the sink or the pipe going from the p-trap to the wall. In case of many plastic pipes – this is also itched on the outside. Usually kitchens are 1-1/2” and bathrooms are 1-1/4” plumbing.

Are there different PermaFLOW™ drains for different size of plumbing?

PermaFLOW™ drain is universal design and fits both kitchen and bath sinks. It comes equipped with appropriate gaskets to adapt to 1-1/2” or 1-1/4” piping. Please visit the page ‘Installation & Operation’ on our website for detailed installation instructions.

Can I use drain cleaners in my PermaFLOW™ drain?

We do not recommend that you use drain cleaners with the PermaFLOW™ drain. We have tested the  PermaFLOW™ drain with many common drain cleaners with no harmful effects, however, drain cleaners with Sulfuric Acid can stain the PermaFLOW™ drain. If you perform regular maintenance, there should be no need for chemicals.

How often do I need to turn the paddle on my PermaFLOW™ drain?

We recommend that you turn your paddle once per week but this will depend on how much you use that sink. If debris starts to build up in the bottom, turn on the water and rotate the paddle a few times.

What do I do if my PermaFLOW™ drain gets dirty?

A very effective cleaner is a common denture (false teeth) cleaner. Simply put two denture cleaning tablets down your sink or lavatory drain and leave overnight. The denture cleaner cleans most stains.

How does PermaFLOW™ handle hairs and hairballs from clogging?

  1. PermaFLOW’s unique construction generates significant turbulence which minimizes the possibility of hairs settling in the Trap area and therefore there is no accumulation of hairballs unlike the traditional traps. Therefore – the hairs strands are released into the waste pipe and then to the main drain pipe as they come into the trap and this is better, regular release and no accumulation anywhere.
  2. Additionally, in case of any build-up at the bottom of PermaFLOW, turning the wiper clockwise pushes the debris into the direct turbulent path of the incoming water and breaks up the debris before releasing downstream. This further reduces the possibility of any large accumulation going down stream and therefore actually reduces the possibilities of generating potential clogs downstream.
  3. Since PermaFLOW is clear, generates significant turbulence and offers the easy to rotate wiper to swipe and clean, therefore with basic routine maintenance there should be no large accumulations of hairs or other debris and the drain should flow freely continually.

Will my PermaFLOW Drain Leak?

PermaFLOW™ drain has been designed to not leak and has been tested extensively and should not leak. PermaFLOW™ drain comes with a 10 year limited warranty that includes free replacement.

What is the life of the Wiper inside the PermaFLOW Drain? Does it need to be replaced.

The PermaFLOW™ drain has been tested extensively and the wiper has been tested under operating conditions for over 100,000 revolutions which basically means that if you turn it a couple of times a day, it is over 100 years. PermaFLOW™ drain comes with a 10 year limited warranty that includes free replacement.

Can I recycle the PermaFLOWTM drain?

Yes. The PermaFLOW™ drain is made from ABS plastic and is fully recyclable.

How often do I need to replace my PermaFLOW™ drain?

The PermaFLOW™ drain should last for a lifetime. However, over time the PermaFLOW™ drain may discolor because of different materials that you put into the drain. You may wish to replace it.

You talk about Drain Management. What is it?

Drain Management is essentially performing regular maintenance before a problem occurs. Regular cleaning of the PermaFLOW™ drain by using the cleaning paddle will prevent blockages in the PermaFLOW™ drain and help prevent blockages downstream.

My home was built to “Sustainable/Green” standards. Is the PermaFLOW™ drain ok to use?
